Courage is fire, and bullying is smoke.

Benjamin Disraeli

When a resolute young fellow steps up to the great bully... and takes him boldly by the beard, he is often surprised to find it comes off in his hand, and that it was only tied on to scare away the timid adventurers.
Ralph Waldo Emerson

Bullying is one of the most destructive activities engaged in by today's youth worldwide. It can occur amongst boys or girls, in pre-school, middle school, or high school. It could take place on the school bus, the cafeteria, the playground, the classroom, or even on your computer at home. Bullying sometimes takes the form of hitting, sometimes teasing and verbal abuse, other times it can simply mean that the victim is ignored and left out of the group. In any case, bullying can be very injurious to the one receiving that abuse.

This webquest will explore many important aspects of bullying. We will attempt to answer such questions as:

·        What is bullying?

·        Who is most likely to bully? To be bullied?

·        Which age group and gender most actively engages in bullying? Why is that so?

Hopefully, those who complete this webquest will come to a greater appreciation of the problems involved with this harmful, malicious activity and some of the steps that can be taken to stop it.
